Loose Weight While Eating Out!

Do you know how to eat healthy at a restaurant? Balancing your fitness and health goals with an active social life doesn’t have to be hard! 

There are times where you want to relax and enjoy a nice meal out and not worry about calories. There are other times where you have to go out either for work or social events but you’re really trying to lose weight or be healthier and you think that eating out will ruin all your goals! I’m here to tell you that you can eat out and still make great choices. Keep these tips in mind and you should be able to relax and order with ease!

  • Take a look at the menu online ahead of the event, if available. Some chain restaurants offer nutrition facts online so you can use that information to help you make a decision on what to order.
  •  Choose meat and fish items that are steamed, broiled, baked, grilled, poached or roasted. These cooking styles are usually lower in fat.
  • Request that any sauces come on the side. Sauces are hidden calorie monsters-they are usually loaded with sugar, sodium, and sometimes even artificial colors/preservatives. So whether it’s a salad, burger, chicken- it doesn’t matter, get the sauce on the side and you can control how much, or how little, you eat!
  • Even if it’s not offered on the menu, ask for a side salad or steamed veggies with your entree. This will help fill you up while keeping calories low! It’s also a lower calorie option compared to typical side dishes.

  • Keep your portion sizes under control by only ordering a main dish.
  • Avoid alcohol-or limit your consumption to one or two drinks. By the time the alcohol effects kick in it will be time for dessert and if your inhibitions are lowered then you’re more likely to order something 😉 If you do end up drinking something, get a glass of wine or liquor with club soda, or on the rocks.
  • Don’t order dessert. Self explanatory 🙂

  1. Indeed, very easy to apply yet many (sometimes myself) tend to ignore it.
    Well i always try to add more cardio during this period or workout more. In my work, i get to travel and lots of yummy food: i won’t deprive myself, but i make sure also to balance it with daily Gym.

    • Sometimes it’s ok to ignore these tips, like we said-sometimes you just want to relax and order whatever you want! But if you eat out like this everyday or even 3-4 times a week-that can be a lot of calories 🙂
